Wedding Butterfly Release
A live butterfly release is one of the most elegant and memorable ways to celebrate your wedding. For over 20 years, Butterfly Release Company® has helped couples create that magical moment. We are a family-run butterfly farm that raises healthy, disease-free Painted Lady butterflies and ships only to regions where the species is native — so your release also supports the local environment.
What Our Wedding Packages Include
Every wedding package arrives ready for your guests to participate:
- Individually folded origami release envelopes
- Personalized with a short imprint and your choice of envelope color
- A printed copy of the “Indian Wish” (a beautiful blessing of goodwill and prosperity) that can be read just before the release
This turns the butterfly release into a shared experience — a graceful alternative to rice, birdseed, or bubbles.
Mass Release Decorator Box Option
Prefer a single, dramatic release instead of individual envelopes? Add our popular Decorator Box.
You choose the flower style and ribbon color so the box matches your wedding palette. At the perfect moment, the bride and groom simply untie the ribbons together and release the butterflies in one beautiful cloud for everyone to enjoy.
You can also combine both options: some butterflies in individual envelopes for guests and the rest in a Decorator Box for a joint release. Just note your preference in the comments box at checkout.
Shipping & Release Guidelines
- Releases should take place during daylight hours when temperatures are above 70°F.
- Butterflies ship via UPS Next Day Air and arrive the day before your chosen release date in most cases.
- Monday releases can arrive Saturday (use Sunday's date and day on the order form); Tuesday releases ship Monday for Tuesday delivery;
- Last-minute orders are welcome — please call us for availability if your event is less than 72 hours away.
Shipping is additional to the package price.
UPS Next Day Air rates:
Florida: $40.00
Eastern states: $50
Western states (AZ, CA, CO, ID, MT, ND, NM, NV, SD, OR, UT, WA, WY): $55
Saturday delivery (for a Sunday release) is an extra $15 to the shipping cost. Shipping is calculated and added at checkout. Most packages arrive before noon the day before your release date. You will receive a tracking number and delivery commitment time by email when your order ships.
